Fantasy F1: Bit of a problem with these new sprint races. Qualifying is now on the Friday. I don't really want to mess with the rules
mid-season so we'll carry on having teams locked on Friday night, which means you can already see the qualifying results. But the scores are based on the GRID, not the
qualifying, so effectively it's the result of Saturday's sprint race. We'll run with that for now and see how it goes.

We're left in no doubt about the explicitness from the get-go. One couple's hard at it (for real), one guy's getting
dominated, and another guy's contorting himself so he can suck his own helmet. Then we see two vinegar strokes, actual
ejaculations. Blimey Dorothy, we're not in Kansas any more. Throughout the movie, there are other similarly raw moments,
one of which is a trio of gay men, porking each other in a sausage triangle, accompanied by suitably nauseating slopping
noises. Boy, am I glad I didn't go to the cinema to see this one. The sex, while undeniably integral to the plot, is
clearly in there for the conversational value and, ironically, will at the same time severely limit its audience.
Strip away the knobbing and there's not a lot left, with the notable exception of the very pleasing intricate
model of Manhattan that pops up between scenes. Sook-Yin Lee's lead performance is sadly lacking, and the direction
does little to help her out. The entire movie has amateur written all over it and, despite the occasional titter, is
hopelessly pretentious and so far up its own arse that it smells of toothpaste. For example, no-one seems to have a
problem with a room full of strangers having unprotected sex with each other, but someone lights up a cigarette and
it causes outrage. The director tries to evoke emotion with scenes that are clearly supposed to make us cry, but as we've
developed no bond with the characters, it's completely ineffective. The ending is even worse, so bizarrely happy-clappy
that I started to think the whole thing was an elaborate joke. Unfortunately, it's not.
